Abstract

A study to compare the effectiveness of music therapy vs foot reflexology on pain among postoperative patients in selected hospitals at Mangalore. The main objective of the study was to compare the effectiveness of music therapy vs foot reflexology among postoperative patients and determine the association between level of pain and selected demographic variables of post operative patients.

The conceptual framework adopted for the study was based on the framework of King's Goal Attainment Model. The research design adopted for the present study was two group pre test post test(pre experimental) design. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample. The main study conducted in Yenepoya Medical College Hospital by applying numerical pain scale followed by administration of music therapy and foot reflexology twice a day for two days.

The mean of music therapy group was greater than foot reflexology group. Hence Foot reflexology was more effective than music therapy. There was no significant association found between the level of pain and age, gender, occupation, history of previous surgery, type of surgery, and marital status except education status of postoperative patients.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women, and the seventh overall, with an estimated 528,000 new cases in 2012. The most important risk factor for cervical cancer is infection with a virus known as Human Papilloma Virus. A study to assess the level of risk of cervical cancer among 100 women in Ullal community area, Mangalore with the objectives to assess the level risk of cervical cancer among women and to find the association between risk factor of cervical cancer and selected demographic variables of women. A modified cervical cancer risk assessment questionnaire was used. Results showed that 65(65%) women were at moderate level of risk of cervical cancer and 31(31%) at severe level and 4(4%) were at mild level of risk. there was a significant association found between education and age of the women at marriage(8.279), age at first child birth(14.949), number of children(30.451), regular menstruation (15.932), perineal hygiene practice(11.931) at p<0.05.Association was also found between occupation of the women and number of children (20.813),regular menstruation(11.794), practice of perineal hygiene (5.725), gynecological consultation (4.071) at p<0.05.The findings of the study helps the investigator to identify the risk factors of cervical cancer.

Abstract

Health care is delivered in dynamic, complex, and ever changing environments. Changes in medical treatments, regulations for federal and state reimbursement and public knowledge about making individual and collective health care choices create growing demands for information. To respond proactively for these changes and the growing demands for clinical information, computer systems are being devised to collect, store, retrieve, analyze and communicate health status and health care information. It can aid in collecting, storing, retrieving and analyzing patient care data when the systems are based on concepts from informatics. Appropriately designed and deployed computerized systems of information can transform patient care data into clinically relevant and useful information and knowledge.

Abstract

Superplastic materials undergoe large amount of plastic deformation. Since large plastic strains can be achieved at relatively low flow stresses, this process leads to considerable industrial interest in superplastic forming of aircraft parts, automobile parts etc, which require relatively high tooling and assembly cost. Therefore, the superplastic forming has become an alternative process to manufacture those components which require fewer stages with minimum wastage. The aim of this paper is to explore the superplastic deformation behavior of the AA7475 aluminum sheet during blow forming in to a circular die by numerical simulation using the Finite element package, C++, and validation with the reported results of experiment. In the theoretical modeling of superplastic forming at every stage of forming, the bulge is assumed to be a part of sphere. From this, a geometric relation is established to predict the thickness distribution, radius of curvature of the dome, height and radius of the bulge at various points of bulging during forming. In the FEM approach, a circular die is modeled and on the top of which AA7475 aluminum alloy blank is fixed rigidly around the die periphery and constant pressure is applied, which is numerically simulated using the FEM package to predict the bulge height as a function of time over the buying profile.
